00:20 Riežupe Sand Caves: We start underground in the incredible Riežupe Sand Caves. While 460m are open for tours, the entire system stretches nearly 2.3km, making it the longest cave in Latvia. The most astonishing fact? It was dug entirely by hand over centuries by local sand miners, who extracted high-quality quartz sand for glassmaking and hourglasses. The constant +8°C temperature was a refreshing start to the day!

03:25 Kuldīga Observation Tower: Next, we climbed the brand-new Kuldīga Observation Tower. This modern marvel leans at a dramatic 12 degrees (over 3 times more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa!) and offers breathtaking 360° views of the Venta River Valley and the Old Town.

04:00 Kuldīga Brick Bridge & Ventas Rumba: We walked across the iconic Kuldīga Brick Bridge. Built in 1874, it's one of the longest and oldest viaducts of its kind in Europe still in use. Just downstream lies the main event: Ventas Rumba, the widest waterfall in Europe! It spans an impressive 249 meters (often up to 270m during floods), creating a powerful and majestic sight.

05:00 Kuldīga Old Town: We explored the charming heart of the city, including the serene St. Catherine's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the picturesque Alekšupītes Waterfall right in the town center, and the peaceful Kuldīga Castle Park ruins.

07:35 Baltavots (The White Spring): Deep in the forest, we found the magical Baltavots. This 2-meter-wide spring appears to be a "boiling" pool of sand. The effect is caused by artesian pressure forcing incredibly clear, cold water up through the loose sand, keeping it in perpetual, mesmerizing motion.

10:05 Pelču Manor Castle: A visit to the elegant Pelču Manor, a beautifully restored 19th-century Neo-Gothic castle surrounded by a classic English-style park.

11:35 Rumbenieki Lime Kiln Ruins: Our final stop was the haunting Rumbenieki Lime Kiln. This 19th-century industrial ruin was used to produce quicklime by burning limestone and wood. It's a fascinating glimpse into Latvia's industrial past, now being reclaimed by the forest.
