In this adorable video we see a sweet moment when young mother Sprout interacts with the two Dudley Zoo Orangutan Babies Jim and Joe - her own baby son Joe and baby brother Jim
Sprout struggled with first-time motherhood when Her baby Joe was born and her mother Jazz amazingly stepped in to look after Sprouts baby and her own month old baby Jim
Sprout has recently started showing more interest in the babies now that they are growing as seen in this video, however the two baby orangutans still predominantly go to Jazz as the parent, who still carries them both around and feeds them
Sprout is a wonderful playful orangutan which is one of the reasons why she wasn't ready to rear her own baby ss she is still very immature herself, having only just become an adult
It was such a heartwarming moment to see her take more of an interest in her baby son and brother , playing with them affectionately and gaining more maternal experience for future offspring, which she will hopefully be more willing to rear herself
The Dudley Zoo Orangutans have a wonderful family dynamic and are an absolute pleasure to watch, it's wonderful to see the orangutans babies Jim and Joe play and grow up together and see the gentle manner that dad Djmat has with the babies, and spends a lot of his time interacting with his family, under the watchful eye of Jazz of course!
Jim is slightly larger and has lighter fur than his nephew Joe.
Amazingly Jazz took over the responsibility in true hero grandmother style and is still caring for and feeding both babies.
Watching this family is truly awe inspiring and younger mother Sprout is starting to interact more with the babies now and we will upload a video of this soon. We are sure that this experience will enable her to be ready for motherhood next time around.
