How To Fix TAIL WHEEL SHIMMY! - Pt.2 - 4k | Aviat Husky Tailwheel Adjustment

TAILWHEEL SHIMMY !! -- Tips for Adjusting an Aviat Husky Tail Wheel for Shimmy .. Correct it NOW! Don't allow a shimmy to ruin your day. My Techniques for having a properly Rigged Tailwheel for Bush airplanes, like a Cubs, Carbon Cub, Maule, Cessna, but especially on an Aviat Husky tail wheel, so you can land without fear on those airplanes with a loose Tail Wheel.

Nothing better than a smooth Properly Rigged Tail wheel.. Nothing worse than flying a loose or sloppy Tail Wheel that has shimmy...It should break at the stops, like this, not be sloppy.. A loose tailwheel can contribute to serious handling problems, Safety Issues, and a High Potential for Ground Loop.

I use 45 Lb of air for the Husky tail wheel. The Adjustment nut is in the lower fork. Tighten the axle until its restricted a little like you see, then back off approx 1/2 - 1 turn.. keeps the bushings seated but not stressed. Grease pivot every 20 or so landings, grease axle 1-2 squirts same.. Don't over grease axle or it will pop out the bushings. Enjoy a long tailwheel Life.. Carry a spare tube or tube/tire.
