In this video, I use a Vintage 1992 Yamaha Venture 480 snowmobile for ice fishing on Long Point Bay during the 2026 perch fishing season.

I bought this 35-year-old Yamaha Venture 480 as a marketplace snowmobile specifically for ice fishing. This vintage snowmachine fit my budget and works well for ice fishing because it is fan cooled, has a two-up seat, and runs a smaller two-stroke engine, making it easier to ride, maneuver, and get unstuck on the ice. Using a snowmobile means no more walking long distances on the ice while ice fishing.

After buying it, I learned how to ride it and took my sister with me for her first ride. We then headed out to Long Point Bay for our first perch ice fishing trip of 2026 using the Yamaha Venture 480.

This trip focuses on Long Point Bay perch fishing, learning to ice fish with a snowmobile, and testing to see if a vintage snowmachine will work for ice fishing in Ontario. We explore the bay, catch perch, and see how well this Yamaha Venture 480 works for towing our gear out on the lake.
