A powerful storm hit the province of Savona (Italy), causing a sharp rise in the water level of the Bormida River. Streets and houses were flooded in several areas. Several people trapped in cars were rescued.
The Bormida Valley was hit hardest. An "orange" weather alert was in effect for the region the previous evening. The river exceeded the second critical level, causing partial flooding.
Flooding and landslides affected not only Dego and Cairo Montenotte, but also Piana Crixia, Carcare, and Mallare. Between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, Dego received record rainfall—up to 413 mm in eight hours, including 111 mm in just one hour. Rail service was paralyzed in San Giuseppe di Cairo on the Savona-Alessandria and Savona-Turin lines. Heavy rainfall also occurred in the Stura Valley, with up to 270 mm of rain falling in Rossilion in eight hours.

Following a severe storm in the province of Savona, the extreme weather continued to spread across Lombardy, causing severe flooding and transportation disruptions. In the regional capital, Milan, the Seveso and Lambro rivers overflowed their banks. Streets, courtyards, and underpasses were flooded, schools were evacuated, and power outages were reported.
In Brianza, including the towns of Meda and Bovisio-Masciaggio, residential areas were flooded, disrupting traffic. In some cases, residents were evacuated from rooftops and cars with the help of rescue helicopters. Flooding was also observed in Lentate and Cambiate. Landslides and roadblocks occurred in the province of Como. In Blevio, a mass of mud and rocks blocked the only road connecting the village to the rest of the region.
Lombardy saw record levels of rainfall in the past 25 years. Some northern areas of the provinces of Milan and Varese saw more than 180 mm of rain in just 12 hours.
