In this segment from the ABC television program Good Morning America, presenter Charles Gibson and Science editor Michael Guillen follow up on a story they first covered on February 7, 1996.

The segment returns to the story of Dr. James Patterson, the inventor of the Patterson Power Cell. Patterson, formerly of Dow Chemical and a world expert in the fabrication of polymer beads, had used his experience to build a cold fusion cell using beads coated in layers of copper, nickel and palladium.

Guillen displays an experimental cell, tours Patterson’s new laboratory space and reports on a prototype hot water heater that Patterson’s company, Clean Energy Technologies Inc was then developing.

In addition, the segment explores the Patterson Power Cell’s ability to remediate nuclear waste, and provides a demonstration under Guillen’s supervision.
