My wife and I took off from KLUA (Luray, VA) headed for Lake Anna (7W4), thinking we’d enjoy a quick fly-out and maybe get our passport stamped. Everything was going smoothly, until I got on final approach and realized I hadn’t checked the runway length closely enough.

Rather than force a landing, I made the call to go around, circled the lake a few times, and we flew back home. No drama, just a good reminder to double-check the details.

This was a low-stress but valuable learning moment I wanted to share with other GA pilots. Enjoy the scenic shots, cockpit footage, and reflections from the flight.
