This is something I wanted to do for a long time with pokemon caught or received from the start of the game (no trades, no eggs). It is also a warm-up for the Emerald Battle Frontier.

Latios @Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Moves: Dragon Claw | Calm Mind | Thunderbolt | Psychic
The special sweeper. Lum Berry is mandatory to avoid any non-volatile status condition or confusion.

Registeel @Sharp Beak / @Bright Powder
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Moves: Aerial Ace | Curse | Rest | Amnesia
The PP staller, special wall and anti-Milotic unit. Curse helps Registeel become a physical wall and survive many ground-type and fighting-type moves.

Swampert @Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
EV: 1 Atk* / 108 Def / 252 SpA / 149 Spe*
Moves: Surf | Ice Beam | Earthquake | Protect
The mixed attacker. Swampert can take Latios's place when a ghost, electric or dark-type pokemon shows up.

*The 1 Attack EV came from the very first battle of the game (a wild Poochyena) and the 1 extra Speed EV from the first battle with Treecko (both unnecessary for increasing stats).
