Shell Scripting | These are random shell scripting videos created to learn and understand the ways of various scripting can done.

We are displaying how to backup your files from the different folders and save it into your destination folder you would like to save. It is automated for daily tasks using shell scripting.

Basic concepts:

#!/bin/bash is known as Shebang used at the start of the script to use bash as a default shell.

For loop - is a concept which is globally used to operate on list of items. Here we are iterating over the source directory which has our files stored in test_files folder from where we are extracting all our files to destination my_backup_files.

cp - is a Linux command used to copy files from source to destination.

Color Output - used to produce text in color format.
BLUE color code - \033[0;34m
GREEN color code - \033[0;32m
YELLOW color code - \033[0;33m
RESET code - \033[0m

if-else statement used to make decisions and run different blocks of code based on particular condition the script needs to operate.

|| - is a logical OR operator which is used to return a non-zero exit status i.e. in our case, if the source or the destination directory has a wrong name it will ask to re-check the path and correct the path which we have mentioned.
