Paganini Caprice 24 on Viola—1 Minute, 10 Minutes, 1 Hour Challenge

My attempt at the 1 Minute, 10 Minutes, 1 Hour Challenge (as seen on TwoSetViolin, Heart of the Keys, and The Flute Channel) with the iconic Paganini Caprice 24.

This challenge tested my technique, concentration, and performance abilities and although I wouldn't submit my final attempt to the Primrose Competition, I sure did enjoy it and I hope you also enjoyed watching me struggle. If this video gets 200 likes, I'll learn Paganini Caprice 24 for real and record it for YouTube!

This piece has a lot of extensions, chords, and double-stops that force the hand to stretch quite a bit. For most violists, I would warn you against practicing such a demanding piece so rigorously at once since it is potentially dangerous for your hand. I spend a lot of time practicing on a daily basis including demanding techniques so it was safe for me to try this challenge with Paganini 24. I also made sure to rest my left hand for the rest of the evening.
