Like the rest of the pickup the rear axle had some fairly major rust issues which were getting worse, with the latest MOT test imminent its time to get it sorted
The Backing plates for the rear drum brakes were very rusty and quite difficult change, that coupled with the fact that the pick up has done 150k miles and there was a fair bit of slack in the drivetrain it made more sense to try and get a low mileage replacement axle, I found one from a 2020 year pickup and set about converting it to fit my 2012 model
