Hemingstone Church, St Gregory's

A lovely visit to Hemingstone church to make the most of the good weather.

Nestled in Suffolk's rolling countryside, Hemingstone Church, St Gregory's, is a great example of a medieval church. Built mainly in the 14th century, the church boasts remnants of Anglo-Saxon origins, seen in the southwest nave corner – one of only 13 in Suffolk.

Just for a change i visited inside and took some interior shots with the Osmo pocket.

Stepping inside you can certainly get to feel the history. It is always hard to mix the Osmo pocket shots with the drone and my very shakey camera work doesn't help.

If anyone knows any tricks for keeping things steady with the Osmo pocket please let me know in the comments section.

So the interior is amazing and contain a wonderful late 14th century octagonal font, a masterpiece crafted from limestone, you can only imagine how many babies have been baptised here.

The 3 medieval bells still toll the hour and have a wonderful tone.

Hemingstone itself finds mention in the Domesday Book of 1086, hinting at its long settlement. Though a small village with no pub or shop, Hemingstone brims with community spirit, and St Gregory's, along with the Hemingstone Hut, serves as its vibrant heart.

It was a strange old flight.

The drone was misbehaving terribly and I had all kinds of trouble with colour setting (as can be seen in the edit) and batteries going dead for no reason.

I also had a mini fly away at the end when the RC controller suddenly dropped out of battery life!
The drone flew away then landed at the edge of a field (thankfully close to a footpath). All very strange.

As I said in my insta 360 video it is easy to get spooked at these remote church locations (even my mind goes into overtime sometimes) but mostly I'm a pretty sensible chap and don't not normally get to the Heebie-jeebies but on this occasion I felt something!

Nothing nasty just call it inquisitiveness or perhaps mischievousness.

I want to keep things fresh and if people like the mix of views rather than just aerial shots I will keep doing them, that said my church videos don't really get much interest so we will see.

Anyway if you find yourself exploring Suffolk's backroads, be sure to include Hemingstone Church on your itinerary. If you love history and want to feel the weight of it then this lovely old church is the place for you.

So thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy and as always...

Cheers.
