The rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes nasicornis) is one of the largest species of beetle on Earth with a length of about 3 - 4 cm and, compared to its size, it is also the strongest animal as it can lift up to 850 times its own weight. As a comparison, it's like a 70-pound man could lift almost 60 tons.
The rhinoceros beetle is also known as the "caraban", "nasicorn" or "bull of God". The name "rhinoceros beetle" comes from the fact that the male has an imposing horn on his forehead, curved at the back, which is very similar to a rhinoceros horn. The female has no such horn, only rough punctations and a convexity on the forehead. 🦏
In the spring the males with their imposing horn fight among themselves for the females; after mating they die. Rhinoceros beetles have their habitat in the bark of trees, but also in their sawdust, where the larvae are found.
In some countries, these cockroaches are made to fight each other for bets. 🦏
