Tools you will need a 10 mm socket or wrench and a hammer. Your going to put the flat side down in order to give you almost a complete circle. Hammer the solid end untill you see threads come through the other end. Don't pull on the threads. Tighten the nut onto the bolt and test. Hit up JJs Schwinn parts for the cheapest deal. I think I payed like $15 out the door for two bolts to fix two bikes
