Pediatric Orthopaedic Scoliosis Surgery | Nicholas's Story

Описание к видео Pediatric Orthopaedic Scoliosis Surgery | Nicholas's Story

Nicholas was diagnosed at three years old with scoliosis. After years of casting and bracing, it became evident that Nicholas, now 14 years old, would need surgery. Nicholas's family was concerned at first about having surgery during this time due to COVID-19 but after speaking with the care team and seeing the safety precautions in place at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, they decided to move forward. Nicholas's spine, which had a 95-degree curve, was corrected to 10 degrees by a technique the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Orthopaedic team developed, called a posterolateral discectomy. Five weeks following surgery, Nicholas is now taller than his mother and is back on the links golfing with friends. #Scoliosis #JohnsHopkins #PatientStory
