I wanted to test how much aperture changes the look of macro bokeh, so I rebuilt the same shot three times using the same mushroom, same angle, and the same lighting. The only difference was the aperture.

For each version, I focus-bracketed the images and stacked them in post to keep the subject sharp while changing the background mood. It’s wild how different the bokeh looks when you open up or stop down.
