TEDxSSN - Akshay Vishnu Madhavan

Akshay Vishnu Madhavan is the Head of Operations at Slum Soccer, an organization that aims to achieve social development using the sport of football (www.slumsoccer.org). An engineer by profession, his passion for football was what initially attracted him to the cause and consequently social work. Slum Soccer has since inception worked with and positively impacted the lives of nearly 90,000 men women and children in 63 districts all over the country. The organization is the Indian National Partner to the Homeless World Cup Foundation (www.homlessworldcup.org) and is also one of 4 Asian organizations to be a part of the Street Football Network, convened by streetfootballworld, a strategic alliance partner of FIFA. Slum Soccer is eligible for and is funded by FIFA through its 'Football for Hope' program. Slum Soccer is also partnered by Barclays Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.He was the Manager of the Indian Homeless World Cup team to Paris, France and was also a presenter at streetfootballworld's Youth Leadership workshop. An ardent Arsenal fan, Akshay is also the co-founder and columnist for the popular football fan site BigFourZa(www.bigfourza.com)
