Missing some footage from day 1 in Basra...ill retrieve it somehow!! anyway, i took a shared taxi down from Baghdad to Basra with one of the guys from Iraq Travellers cafe, we then met up with some locals who took us around for the day, which ended in the most amazing lunch at someones home... I had an amazing lunch the day before but thats where i'm missing some data!
Basra may be one of my favourite laces in Iraq so far, they have been through so much with wars and being so close to Iraq. Like Peshawar in Pakistan, the people are so resiliant and still have an amazing sense of humour and their friendliness and hospitality reminds me so much of Peshawar!!! i almost felt like i was back there again!
i loved Basra so much and would love to go back again and spend longer there! i ended up taking the train back solo! its such a lovely place with huge tourist potential! its a shame the government hasn't helped this city out more... they haven't built anything here or basically done anything for decades!
