Klim Latitude jacket review

Описание к видео Klim Latitude jacket review

The Klim Latitude jacket is a two-layer, Gore-Tex laminated jacket aimed very much at the road rider who tours or commutes. In the Klim range it sits one down from the Kodiak, although in many ways we think the Latitude is a better jacket, and it’s certainly a more wearable one.

As a two-layer jacket it’s pretty light and easy to wear. Yet it gives nothing away in terms of protection. It comes with a full suite of D3O armour, including a back protector. There are extra layers of 840 denier Cordura in the high abrasion zones, and you get leather panels on the elbows. All of which explains why the latitude is AA rated under EN17092.

Klim is, at its heart, an adventure brand, so venting is copious, with vents on the chest, on the sleeves and in the back. Pockets are always a big thing with Klim, and so you get five on the outside of the jacket, and four more inside.

Adjusters also abound. There’s a drawstring at the neck. There’s another in the hem of the jacket, but more importantly you get adjustable straps at the waist. At the sleeve ends, there are no zips, but they can still be cinched tight over gloves with the Velcro straps. There are also straps on the forearms; now these serve both to keep the armour in place, but also to pull open the sleeve vents.

But like all of Klim’s products, the devil is in the detail. Leather trim in various places. Lots of 3M Scotchlite reflective panels. Two hooks that allow the neck of the jacket to be held open. And, of course, a zip that allows the jacket to be connected to any Klim pant.

But there is one thing that is particularly unusual or special with the Latitude. It comes in a short configuration, with a shorter body and shorter sleeves. And for some this will be a clincher.

Now one thing the Latitude does not have, and it’s a thermal layer; and this is not unusual for Klim, although most road outfits do come, as standard, with one. For us it’s not a problem, though, because most zip-in liners are not of particularly high quality. Most bikers will have something like a down jacket, and this is what we would use to stay warm. A good down jacket is as insulating as it gets.
