On August 27, 2024, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) held a meeting to review and finalize the final report on Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in preparation for the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project. Attended by a representative of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), a representative of Yooshin Engineering Co. Ltd. And relevant officials who are also project members. As a result, the meeting had a lively discussion on the report after completing a detailed study on environmental and social impact (ESIA) in the capital to ensure access to input and find a common solution and reach a final agreement. Following what was discussed in the meeting for clarity when the project starts to build and get better results. Please be informed that according to His Excellency Park Jung-wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia in June 2024, His Excellency has been closely monitoring this process and The construction of this bridge is going smoothly and the groundbreaking will start in 2025.



Please be informed that the first Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge in history, worth nearly 300 million US dollars, was signed between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of Korea on December 9, 2022.



The new bridge project consists of two lines, the first line connecting in front of the night market across the Tonle Sap to Chroy Changvar and the second line connecting Chroy Changvar across the Mekong River to the Noble King. For this construction, there are high pillars to the top, curved to run to tie the cable, and there is a feature, the pillars are narrow, which makes it easier for ships to cross in and out under the bridge.
