This factory-painted Starmist Blue Thunderbird, which was delivered new in February 1957 to the LaSalle Motor Company of Illinois, is one of these highly desirable E-Code models. It not only has the dual-quad powerplant but, according to the original build sheet, also arrived with a hardtop, three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, an engine dress-up kit, tinted glass, signal-seeking radio, heater with defrost, and rear fender shields.
Other important highlights of this stunning vehicle include the beautiful two-tone blue upholstery, a navy blue soft top, Swift Sure power brakes, Master Guide power steering, a windshield washer, and 5 Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with 5 correct 7.50R x 14” American Classic radial whitewalls. A correct, restored bumper jack is also included. This sleek motorcar is known to be one of only 1,499 built with the E-Code 312 engine, and it’s also one of only 275 with the overdrive transmission.
This stunning E-Code has factory-matching numbers and all matching original specifications on its original data plate. The restoration of this exceptional Thunderbird was completed in 2001, and the results garnered four Concours Gold Awards. Today, it shows exceptionally well and clearly has been very well-preserved and meticulously maintained.
All chrome, stainless steel, glass and weather stripping are in excellent condition. All gauges and lights, including interior, work well. The Town and Country signal-seeking radio works back and forth, but the radio buzzes. The clock is not working at this time.
This T-Bird runs exceptionally well and is ready to show or drive by its new owner. The steering is tight with no play, and the brakes work well with no pull. There were a few very small stone chips that appeared on the hood and near one headlight that have been repaired. According to records, this car had a full restoration with only 52,000 on the odometer. Since that time, it has been driven only 1,500 miles.
It was recently recommissioned with a new battery, spark plugs and wires, fresh fluids, a new power brake unite and a new master cylinder. The original window sticker, data plate (attached to firewall), restoration invoices and first place awards accompany the car
This lovely E-Code has been part of a treasured collection for more than a decade, playing the important role of a rare and important Thunderbird. It shows well and is certainly capable of winning in any show it enters. This is an unbelievable T-Bird at an unbelievable price.
