Vanuatu Prime Minister Ishmael Kalsakau faced a vote of no-confidence in Parliament this week, and barely survived. The motion was led by opposition leader Bob Loughman, who cited a number of grievances and criticised Kalsakau for signing a security pact with Australia.

However, Loughman faced similar criticism during his time as Prime Minister, when he signed agreements with China.
