Starring Matt Smith (HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, DOCTOR WHO) and Morfydd Clark (SAINT MAUD, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER), this gripping tale of grief, obsession, and ancient folklore will haunt your thoughts long after the credits roll.

In 1970s rural Yorkshire, the seemingly idyllic life of Richard and Juliette Willoughby is shattered when their son, Owen, begins to act strangely. After a tragic event drives a wedge between the couple, Richard, an academic archaeologist, becomes obsessed with a local myth about an ancient oak tree on their land. As Juliette seeks solace within the local community, Richard's discoveries pull them into a dark and sinister world.

With an impressive supporting cast, including Erin Richards, Robert Emms, Sean Gilder, and Arthur Shaw, and featuring an original score by Matthew Herbert (THE WONDER, DISOBEDIENCE), STARVE ACRE had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2023 and hits UK and Irish cinemas on 6 September 2024.

Don't miss the accompanying season programmed by Daniel Kokotajlo at BFI Southbank and BFI Player: ROOTS, RITUALS AND PHANTASMAGORIA, starting 1 September. STARVE ACRE will also be available on BFI Player, BFI Blu-ray, and digital release from 21 October.
