DIY Leather Jacket Repair: Save Money and Extend Its Life

Materials Needed:

1- Scissors

2- Needle ( No. 10 Indian)

3- Thimble (to protect your fingers)

4- Thread ( Strong Nylon Thread 🧵 or polyester Strong Thread,

( Match the thread color to the jacket for a discreet repair.)

5- Start Stitching:

Tie a knot at the end of the thread to secure it.


Begin stitching about 2-3 mm from the edge of the hole to avoid tearing the leather further.

Use a running stitch (simple up-and-down stitching) for a clean look.

Pull the thread taut after each stitch but not too tight to avoid puckering the leather.


6- Finish the Stitching:

Stitch all around the hole,

Tie a secure knot on the inside of the jacket to finish.

Trim excess thread.

Tips:

Use a thimble to push the needle through thick leather.


If you're not confident in stitching leather, practice on a scrap piece of leather first.


This method provides a sturdy, long-lasting repair for a leather jacket.
