What happens when you run out of charge on a highway!

We ran our Ford E-Transit until it wouldn't go any further. Well beyond when the battery said it was at 0% charge. We picked the worst day every to try this too! It was over 100 degrees outside and the van nearly died in an area with no cell service. Luckily we managed get back closer to town before the van completely shut down. We actually made it to within a few feet of a gas station parking lot but the van did shut down in the middle of a two-lane highway. We called a tow truck and got towed to our charger at home.
