The Landmine press is one of the safest and most effective, single arm open chain strengthening exercise above head for shoulders. When you are transitioning out of rehab into strength and conditioning - this is a good exercise to do to gain strength above head before shoulder presses. There is more stability in this position but a few tips will help here:

1. Stay in kneeling so the weight of the barbell stays vertically and doesn't move in a more horizontal position
2. Move 30-45 deg away from the barbell so the line of drive and load is in the 'scaption' plane of the glenohumeral joint. This is the safest and strongest position of the shoulder joint relative to the scapula or socket of the joint.
3. Don't hitch the shoulder with your upper traps at the end of the movement.
