Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Temple of Kynareath.

Following our successful adventures for the Order of Arkay, Strangeblood feels strangely emboldened as compared to before and decides to seek out more adventures. This time, he decides to head towards the Mages' Guild to Offer them some of his services. Upon his arrival at the branch of the Mages' Guild at Ilessan Hills, the first quest that he receives regards collecting some ingredients for a spell from a local dungeon. The quester actually has what is required but his ingredients are old and he would rather have fresh ones for greater potency. The ingredients in question are Mummy Wrappings and we have to travel to The Stronghold of Copperston to obtain them from a live mummy. These mages sure don't understand the risks behind an adventure for some simple ingredients, do they? And they are offering us only 198 gold pieces in exchange for it.

So off we head to the stronghold. As the name suggests, it looks like a fortified structure from the outside, but it also seems quite abandoned without any signs of life on the outside. As soon as we set foot inside the dungeon, we quickly figured out why we were sent here. There are no more humans left in this accursed place. Only Skeletal remains of former warriors and the occasional giant vermin. We had to scour the former fort for a long while before the mummy found us. Thankfully, we could cast Fireball at it until it died and collected the surprisingly unburnt wrappings from its flesh. The way back was a long one and we weren't in the mood to make the journey back. So we just Teleported to the anchor that we had set before the mission began and turned the quest in to receive chump change for risking life and limb.

The next quest that we received was a much more leisurely one wherein we had to travel to The Bat and The Fairy Pub, a tavern in the wilderness of the Ilessan Hills and look for Mordore Gaerhart in The Moorwing Residence so that we could fetch his research notes for him.

However, upon our arrival at the town, we had a note delivered to us. It was from the Dark Brotherhood and it threatened us to hand the research notes over to them instead of the mages guild at the cost of making an enemy out of them for disobedience.

Hence, we took the notes from the researcher, and with our priorities and loyalties clear in our minds, we headed back to Ilessan Hills to hand the notes over to the Mages Guild. We will see who the Dark Brotherhood sends our way when the time arrives and deal with them accordingly. Our loyalties lay with the Mages' Guild for the better or the worse.

This is how Strangeblood made the Journey to the rank of Journeyman within the Mages' Guild:
