IV Fluid Basics

This video covers the major categories of IV fluids used in medical care: hypotonic, isotonic, hypertonic, blood products, and colloids. We discuss the importance of appropriate fluid resuscitation and maintenance, the physiology to help you understand why certain fluids are appropriate for certain clinical scenarios, some concrete examples/electrolyte content of these fluids, and finally the dosing and my super-simple fluid algorithm that I recommend if you are a student/junior resident on service with me.
