Crossing Loops, Dual Gauge Tracks, Viaduct Bridges - The Jacana to Albion Railway Line

Описание к видео Crossing Loops, Dual Gauge Tracks, Viaduct Bridges - The Jacana to Albion Railway Line

Welcome to Schony747 trains on a Wednesday featuring Crossing Loops, Dual Gauge Tracks and Viaduct Bridges on the Jacana to Albion Railway Line based in Melbourne West. If you enjoy the video, hit the like button and smash the bell for weekly updates on Schony747.

The broad gauge line actually opened in 1929 as an alternative railway to transport freight to the Tottenham freight yards in Melbourne's western suburbs. In 1962 the Standard Gauge arrived into Victoria and one of the broad gauge tracks was converted to standard gauge. At the same time standard gauge passenger trains started running on the railway line and today V/Line and The XPT to New South Wales passenger trains run over the line.

The current line features two broad gauge tracks (described in the video as loops) at each end of the line which run into a single line. There are two bridges - Moonee Ponds Viadict and Maribyrnong River Viaduct. The Tullamarine Loop features a dual gauge track and McIntyre Loop is the shorter loop at The Albion end of the line.

I think you will find this video interesting. Have a great week - Brenden S.
