For Day 23 of our Spring Cleaning Spree 2024 we are cleaning our blinds! Here are some quick tips on how to clean different types of blinds - 1) Dusting/Vacuuming: The first step for pretty much any type of blind is to remove as much dust/dry debris you can. I love using my Swiffer for this, or my Hoover Emerge vacuum because it has great attachments and is cordless! 2) Washing Mini Vinyl Blinds: For vinyl blinds that are removable I love to take them completely down and wash them in my bathtub. MAKE SURE to not put the top mechanism into the water, as this will cause damage. 3) Most other blinds (Metal and Wood Venetian, Vertical, Fabric, and Roller blinds) are going to need to be cleaned in place. After you remove all of the dust, I suggest mixing warm water with a drop of Dawn soap and using my three-towel microfiber cloth system. 4) If your blinds are fabric, always consult the manufacturer’s instructions first. They may call for special cleaning solutions, or you can spot clean with the warm water/Dawn Dish soap mix. Just be careful to test a small/inconspicuous spot first.
