Jim Mills, a man who needs no introduction having won the IBMA Banjo player of the year award 6 times (1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006), more than any other player! He also won IBMA Instrumental Album of the Year for his "Born to Ride" album. Jim has won 6 grammy awards. The man can flat out pick the Ol 5-String like nobody since the late great virtuoso Earl Scruggs.
Jim Mills is also a scholar of Gibson Prewar Banjos and has written and released a book on pre-war Gibson banjos in 2009, "Gibson Mastertone: Flathead 5-String Banjos of the 1930's and 1940's. Mills currently owns no fewer than 6 all original RB 5-String Mastertone Banjos. To say, he knows Gibson Flatheads is an understatement of huge proportions! Jim was recently able to get his hands on 9471-4 "The Hollywood Hills No Hole 4" Gibson Fat Boy Masterone Banjo. An ultra rare fine instrument in an equally ultra rare masters hands!
