As many as leaders of 26 parties met for the second day in a bid to strategize a united front against the BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The parties have come up with a new name for their alliance called 'I.N.D.I.A'. The Congress is not interested in power or the post of prime minister, party president Mallikarjun Kharge said at the meeting. "Our intention in this meeting is not to gain power for ourselves. It is to protect our Constitution, democracy, secularism and social justice," the Congress chief said. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, chief ministers M K Stalin, Nitish Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren and RJD chief Lalu Prasad were among those who attended the dinner meeting on Monday. The slogan of the Opposition leaders is "United we stand" with the opposition leaders asserting that the meeting would be a "game changer" for the Indian political scenario.
