Replacing a gas boiler with a heat pump

Описание к видео Replacing a gas boiler with a heat pump

This is a one hour (!!sorry!!) talk covering the issues around replacing a gas boiler with a heat pump. You can download the Powerpoint slides used in the talk from this link

Replacing a gas boiler with a heat pump is probably the most significant thing that people can do to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions - it will save literally TONNES of emissions every year.

However, shamefully, the fossil fuel industry has created an atmosphere of fear uncertainty and doubt in an attempt to slow the inevitable energy transition away from using boilers. This talk addresses some of the questions that people have as they consider changing to a heat pump.

And there are lots of questions to cover - 25 sections in this talk! - and these are listed below.

I hope it helps!

ERROR!
======
At 14:17 I mistakenly multiply 50 m x 100 m to get 500 m^2. I am an idiot: sorry! Obviously the actual are is 50 x 10 m which is still large but notes large as I implied. Doh!

Use for Hot Water
Do I need to insulate my house first?
What power of heat pump do I need?
Which make of heat pump is best?

Are my radiators OK?

Installation
=========

Where can I put it?
Hot water cylinder or heat store.

Operation
========
Is it noisy?
Do I just leave it on all the time?
Does it work when it’s cold?
Does it get water properly hot?
Legionella protection

Cost and Carbon
==============
How much does it cost?
How do I know it’s working?
How much carbon dioxide does it save?
