Synopsis
Based upon the 1943 novel of same name by George Agnew Chamberlain. Neatly woven story centered upon a small red house on a farmer's property and what happened in the past as well as present. Pete Morgan ( Robinson ), sister Ellen ( Anderson ) and adopted daughter Meg ( Roberts ) live on the property and hire local boy Nath Storm ( McAllister ) to help with chores. Soon Meg and Nath fall in love, but Tibby ( London ) won't let Nath go. Local roustabout Teller ( Calhoun ) causes Meg to break her leg. While recuperating the mystery of the "red house" begins to unravel. Dark, moody, rural film noir. Very much same film technique, but in a rural setting. Nice job by Eddie as usual, and new comers London, McAllister, and Calhoun.
