Definite vs. indefinite articles

In the past two videos, we’ve seen the definite and indefinite articles in Dutch. How should you then know when to use which? Well, it’s of course mostly context-bound and the usage of both the indefinite and definite articles in Dutch would roughly correspond with how they’re used in English as well. If you still have difficulties wrapping your head around the concept of definite and indefinite articles, imagine that the indefinite article is never used when you’re talking about an object that is in the concrete sense “present” or that what kind of thing it is, doesn’t really matter. It’s generic.
