I tear out the old catch basin and pipe and install the new larger concrete catch basin in the detention pond. I think it weighed a little over 5,000lbs. so the excavator needed a little assistance. If the loader was available it would have lifted it no problem. The old box was not built to specs and the pipe was to small. This one used a 24" HDPE pipe that went into a concrete flare, which I busted the corner on moving it and having the arm extended out too far and it fell forward and smacked the rock. I also didn't have the right lubricant for putting the two joints of pipe together so that was a bit of a chore. I briefly discuss the catch basin and explain that the weir cut and the intake hole are on the wrong sides. But by the end of the day everything was in place and sloped with the fall it needed to drain. It was a bit of a pain but something I enjoyed learning.
