Metallic Mania Performance 001 | 2024 KOTE Art Festival

Metallic Mania 는 금속성의 소리를 수집하고 새롭게 듣기를 통해 제시하여 사람들의 공감을 얻어보고자 하는 프로젝트이다. 이번 첫 퍼포먼스에서 Mingkoo는 수집한 금속음을 샘플링하는 대신 현장에서 금속 소음을 발생시키고 변조하는 과정으로 금속음의 다시 듣기를 시도하였다.

'Metallic Mania' is a project that collects metallic sounds and presents them through new listening to gain sympathy from people. In this first performance, Mingkoo attempted to listen to the metallic sound again by generating and modulating the metallic sound in the field instead of sampling the metallic sound that has been collected so far.

'Mingkoo'는 오디오 엔지니어로서의 기술적인 배경을 바탕으로 구체음악, 컴퓨터 소리 합성, 아날로그 신디사이저를 활용한 작업이나 입체음향 프로젝트를 상업적인 영역과 예술분야 영역 양쪽에서 펼치고 있다. 다양한 소리를 수집하고 편집하여 큐레이팅 함으로써 청취 경험을 제공하는 전자음악가라는 점에서 Sound Jockey로 소개한다. ㈜부밍스튜디오스에서 음향 감독 겸 콘텐츠 제작실장을 맡고 있으며 크리티컬 리스닝 커뮤니티라는 브랜드를 통해 소리에 관한 각종 공연 및 모임을 기획하고 제작한다.

Based on his technical background as an audio engineer, Mingkoo is carrying out work using concrete music, computer sound synthesis, analog synthesizers, and immersive sound projects in both the commercial and artistic sectors. He introduces himself as Sound Jockey in that he is an electronic musician who provides listening experiences by collecting, editing, and curating various sounds. He is the sound director and content production manager at Booming Studios Co., Ltd., and plans and produces various performances and meetings related to sound through the brand of Critical Listening Community.
