In Conversation: Arthur Jafa and Jeremy O. Harris

Описание к видео In Conversation: Arthur Jafa and Jeremy O. Harris

Arthur Jafa discusses his latest film "*****" in a conversation with playwright Jeremy O. Harris. Practically transfixed since the first time he saw Martin Scorsese’s iconic film "Taxi Driver" (1976), it has been ingrained in Jafa's memory. He remembers the experience as overwhelming and confusing. Jafa might not have been able to articulate what he saw and heard in the language that he would come to use as a cinephile and then as an artist who privileges time-based mediums, but he absorbed the movie and Scorsese’s aesthetic became part of his own to this day. The climactic scene, which Jafa recasts in his new work, is undoubtedly horrifying, even after watching it dozens of times.

Arthur Jafa: ***** is on view at 530 West 21st Street from April 4, 2024 – May 4, 2024. The film is screening Tuesday – Saturday, from 10am until 6pm. More information regarding the exhibition, including its showtimes, can be viewed here: https://www.gladstonegallery.com/arti...

Cinematographer: Jonathan Chekroune
