This presentation features an overview of the founding of the Bhaktivedanta Institute during the 1970s while drawing upon historical materials held by the Richard L. Thompson Archives. It also examines the backgrounds of a number of the charter members as well the cultural dynamics within ISKCON at the time. The aspirations expressed in the early presentations of the Bhaktivedanta Institute are considered in their historical context.
