My Turbo Blew Up, Waste Gate Failure — Part 4 of the Rebuild — Re — Fitting the Turbo

Here is the refitting of the old turbo, or so I thought until I checked the compressor vanes which were damaged. Obviously, something went through it and due to the high rotational speed of the turbo, the vanes get damaged easily. Unfortunately, part of one of the vanes also had broken off so that is either in the intercooler or has passed through the engine.

The problem is that I have no idea when it happened, all I know is that the pistons and valves are currently okay.

If you see the same thing, make sure you check the inside of your intercooler for debris just in case it has got stuck in there. You don't want anything passing through the engine and damaging something in there. Give it a blow out just in case.
