Chaos as MPs turn on Speaker over last minute change to Gaza ceasefire vote

Описание к видео Chaos as MPs turn on Speaker over last minute change to Gaza ceasefire vote

Speaker Lindsay Hoyle granted two amendments to the SNP's vote to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, which set the House alight.

It is customary in opposition day debates that the government can make amendments to votes, but it is unheard of for a second opposition party (Labour) to further make amendments.

What was normal was Lindsay Hoyle granted the Conservatives amendment to change wording to call for an "immediate humanitarian pause". The House erupted after he also granted Labour's amendment to call for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" after Hamas releases Israeli hostages, which he granted after claiming the precedence is "an outdated approach".
