Angelina Jolie on Working With Son Maddox on ‘First They Killed My Father’: ‘It Was Everything’

Angelina Jolie discussed at the Toronto Film Festival working with her son Maddox on her latest directorial effort, Netflix’s “First They Killed My Father.”

“For me, it was yes, I wanted him to work and I wanted him to research and I wanted him to help me, because of the child’s point of view also he was very useful,” Jolie said. “But really just to sit on set and look over and see him with his countrymen and see him creating and laughing and being Cambodian and being happy in his land. It was everything.”

The actress adopted Maddox, her first child, from an orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia, in 2002.
