"This college would not be what it is if it wasn't for the Norwalk Community College Foundation," said Dr. David Levinson, President of Norwalk Community College. For 50 years, the Norwalk Community College Foundation has raised millions to benefit Norwalk Community College, it's students, faculty and programs. "We go out into the community, to individuals, to other foundations and corporations and we ask for private donations to support the college and programs, initiatives and scholarships that state funding does not provide," said Eleanor Riemer, President of the Norwalk Community College Foundation. To celebrate their 50th year, the foundation is setting the bar high. "We have set a goal of raising five million dollars this year for NCC," said Rimer during a press conference Tuesday morning.
The $5 million will not only benefit students enrolled at NCC but students after graduation day. "We know that their education does not end here and that to achieve their dream, they have to go on," said Riemer. "Since 2008, we have provided transfer scholarships for our highest achieving students so that they can attend the college of their choice. For our 50th Anniversary year, we are launching two new transfer scholarships. The first our RN to BSN scholarship and the second is the Dream scholarship."
