Ep. 22 FINISHED THE SUNFLOWER MOSAIC, round holiday mosaic, the mosaic crow, Kintsugi, & pendants!

Ep. 22 Round candle holder mosaic, the crow/raven, Kinsugi portrait of my mother, finishing the sunflower, and knocking out some pendants!

Minute mark:
2:17 Work starts on the repair of a fused glass portrait using the Japanese technique of Kintsugi with a mosaic twist. The base is painted with two coats of flat black spray paint.
3:07 Cutting down stained glass and creating an inventory of pieces for a mosaic candle holder ornament.
3:42 The fused glass is glued in place using Weldbond. Then 24K gold smalti is cut to fit the spaces between, making a whole new piece of mosaic art entitled Fragments. It's a perfect solution as my mother suffered from Alzheimer's. I'm so pleased I was able to salvage the pieces!
4:20 The Cone flower mosaic is grouted with tan sanded grout.
4:40 I add yellow feathercut stained glass to the petals of the sunflower mosaic using Weldbond adhesive. A bit of paler yellow is mixed into the tips of the petals. It was grouted off camera with a sanded velvet brown grout.
5:17 Good grief! How many different mosaic projects can I work on in one week? Now it's time for the 3-D mosaic crow to get some more beads up his back and head. Then black opaque glass is cut to fit the wings and face.
