Yvonne Craig and 'Batgirl' Tribute - Vicki Lawrence Talk Show - 10/27/92

With the recent passing of Yvonne Craig, I have been searching through my video archives, trying to find something to share here at Television Vanguard as a tribute to her. She was (and always will be) one of my favorites.

I found this clip from a "Vicki!" [Vicki Lawrence] talk show from October of 1992. This particular episode was featuring Childhood Superheroes of Television, and had Yvonne Craig (as Batgirl), Ron Ely and Wolf Larson (Tarzan), William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) and Bob Keshan (Captain Kangaroo).

In the interview, Yvonne talks about why she was added to the cast in season 3 of Batman, and her hopes at that time (1967) of what Batgirl would mean for herself and the young viewers of the TV series.

A nice way to remember Yvonne. She had expressed some final wishes near the end of her life - 1) to ensure her family, friends and fans would know how much she loved them and always treasured her time with them, and 2) that no one waste a moment of their time in mourning for her loss in sadness, but instead celebrate the awesome life she had been fortunate enough to live.

And so we shall celebrate Yvonne and the life she lived and the happiness she brought to all those around her.

RIP lovely lady.

Note that Yvonne did write her memoir a few years ago (she was a very talented ballerina in her early career, once played a ballerina in one of the 'Our Man Flint' movies, was a very successful real estate agent post acting career, and once was rumored to be seeing Bing Crosby!!!... she was in a movie with Bing and had been mistaken for Kathryn Grant Crosby, whom Bing had recently married.) A wonderful book and highly recommended. One of the books in my library that I truly cherish. The book is titled: From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond." Seek it out and learn more about Yvonne and her amazing life.
