This lesson continues our journey through the Bible but begins a new segment of study. The Kingdom of Israel divides into two halves. Now Israel refers to the northern kingdom and Judah to the southern kingdom. The northern kingdom will exists for approximately 200 years before being taken into captivity by the Assyrian Empire. The southern kingdom, which is the lineage of King David, will last for about another 120 years before being taken into captivity by the Babylonians. Just before the fall of the Kingdom of Judah, the scriptures describe their unfaithfulness as reaching the point of no return, "Till There Was No Remedy." Again we will follow the "Lamp To My Feet" series published by Bob & Sandra Waldron. The title of this 5th book is "Till There Was No Remedy," hence the title of this section of lessons.

In this lesson we will see that it was the sin of Solomon that caused God to allow the kingdom of Israel to divide. But true to His nature, which is that God always keeps His Word, Solomon's son will be allowed to continue to sit on the throne in Jerusalem, maintaining the Davidic lineage and fulfilling God's promise to David that he would always have an heir on the throne. This promise will be severely tested in the course of our study yet never broken. It's ultimate fulfillment is seen in Jesus Christ as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
