Lean Set in Order

This is video #3 out of 6 in this series about Lean 5S. This is a great series to use as part of your kaizen event training.

The lean 5S system contains 5-steps to achieving a more organized, controlled and efficient manufacturing plant. These steps are Sort, Set-in-Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain. In this video, I discuss my favorite step in the 5S process, Set-in-Order.

In this Set-in-Order step, your Kaizen team identifies the proper storage location for all of the items that are required for production. The things that you need to store at the production line may include items such as equipment, workstations, raw materials, Work-in-Process materials, changeover parts, tools, inspection gages, and information. To find the perfect location for everything, just consider five factors that will keep your plant safe and efficient.
