In 1984, viewers met pediatric dentist, David Molina, DDS, who dedicated the early part of his career to the prevention and treatment of tooth disease for the children of members of the United States Air Force through work in the Air Force Dental Corps at Beale Hospital. Dr. Molina was stationed at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, California. Dr. Molina and his team of dentists and staff from the Beale Air Force Base Dental Clinic developed a special interest in the education of children regarding the importance of proper dental care and tooth hygiene. They created and performed a wonderful theatrical skit in The Medical Explorer studio which focused on the prevention of tooth decay. Later, Dr. Molina discussed important issues regarding pediatric dentistry with Dr. Peppercorn in The Medical Explorer studio. In his Health Tip segment, Dr. Peppercorn educated viewers about the hazards of toddler and baby swimming programs. Several years after the airing of this episode, Dr. Molina left the Air Force and opened a general and pediatric dental practice nearby to Beale AFB in Lake of The Pines, California, which is in the Nevada County foothills. He continues his successful and popular dental practice there today.
