I provide a short video about 14 different useful sources to check grammar and spelling online for free. I use some of these grammar checker apps, but for the most part, I rely on other’s feedback and advice for help. I am not claiming that any one of these applications offer the best grammar checking, but you might want to check them out.
1. http://www.dictionary.com/
I mostly use dictionary.com to find words that I forgot how to spell, and I use its companion site thesaurus.com to find other variants of the same word. Sometimes I prefer thesaurus.com to MS Word because it provides much more words than the latter. While not specifically a grammar checker app, you will benefit from going to this website.
3. MS Word.
I’m truly recommend that Microsoft Word is perhaps the best spell check and grammar checker in the world. The reason why MS Word is the best grammar checker app is because Microsoft have so many people using the grammar and spelling software, making it easy to use. As well, the grammar checker is built into the software, making it simple to call upon.
4. www.gingersoftware.com/grammarcheck
You can use Ginger Grammar Checker App to do simple grammar checks. Many of these services are similar, and I would recommend them too. I often don’t use them though. The difference will depend on how many rules they have programmed in, and as well each will likely provide different results:

5. https://www.grammarly.com/
One that I really like is grammarly.com. I don’t use this grammar checker app that often, but I love the features that they are building into the software. They have built a software that is quite usable to check grammar and spelling online for free, and is becoming increasing more popular. As a professor of innovation, I often stressed that the most important reason to try a technology is often the number of users that they have. Grammarly probably has the largest number of users outside of MS Word.
6. http://www.hemingwayapp.com/
Hemingway App is quite nice because they have a simple user interface. I very much like this grammar checker app because it is so clear and easy to use. Let me know if you like the Hemingway online grammar checker.
7. https://www.paperrater.com/
You can also check out paperrater.com to check grammar and spelling online for free. What’s cool is that paper writer also has a plagiarism detector built into the system. Although, I would recommend turnitin.com for plagiarism detection for teacher, from the student-side, paperrater.com is likely good enough to check your paper.
8. Strunk’s Elements Of Style: http://www.bartleby.com/141/
You can also check out Strunk’s Elements Of Style. While it is not a grammar checker app, I would recommend this book to get a grasp at improving your writing.
9. Dale Carnegie's “How To Make Friends And Influence People”
I always recommend this book for understanding style, and how to make people like what you do. Again, it is not a grammar checker app, and it is not going to check grammar and spelling online for free. However, you truly should be looking at this before you write as it helps with influencing your audience.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
