Everyone knows about the fantastically beautiful Treasury at Petra, but what you don't always see is all the other side hikes on the site (Petra is actually HUGE).

I was asked by some local kids that live in the desert around Petra if I wanted to climb to the top, so of course I said yes! What followed was the most off-roading unofficial I think you can do at one of 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, at least in 2025 now that things are (usually) so policed and regulated.

If you come to Petra, make sure to ask the local Bedouin kids if it's still possible to "learn how to fly" - great experience overall.
